Bronchopneumonia is a type of pneumonia, an infection that causes inflammation in the lungs caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi. Bronchopneumonia can also be triggered by several risk factors, such as a person's age, environment, lifestyle and certain health conditions. The development of bronchopneumonia in hospitals can also be caused by bacteria that are already resistant to antibiotics.
